Photography Classes

Dee Kotaska

Dee Kotaska has been a fine art nature photogrpher for over 30 years.  Her work has won awards locally and regionally.  A teacher by training, she loves sharing information about photography and explains this newly complicated artform in easily understood terms.

The following are two of several classes that Dee teaches throughout the year at Pine Center for the Arts:

  • Taking Your Camera Off Automatic/Digital SLR - Today's cameras have automatic exposure settings that will give you an appropriate exposure in most situations.  However, there are times when one wants to override the automatic settings and control the shutter speed and aperture or create special effects. Appropriate for SLR camera owners - a camera and manual are required to take this class.

Tuesday, January 31, 7:00-9:30 PM
Class Fee: $22

  • Photography: Creating an Artistic Image - This workshop will cover various techniques that create artistic images rather than a documentary photograph.  Designed for users that wish to learn "in-camera" techniques versus those done on Photoshop.  Techniques covered include: zooming, multiple images, panning and night photography.  A digital camera is required to participate in this class.

Tuesday, February 7, 7:00-9:00 PM
Class Fee: $20

This activity is funded, in part, by a grant from the East Central Regional Arts Council with funds provided by the Minnesota arts and cultural heritage fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
